Dot2Dot Founder Susie MacMillan is a passionate, experienced Facilities Professional that has worked with contractors for over 20 years. She is able to lead cooperative purchasing projects to ensure neighbors save time, money and avoid the headaches home projects can create.

As a former Facility Manager and current HOA Condominium Owner and Facilities Committee Chairperson I have a unique understanding of the challenges both the owners and property managers face in maintaining existing systems and planning for ongoing repairs, replacements and improvements when there are constant competing needs, desires, and goals. The ability to garner a consensus of all board members is often challenging, trying to get consensus among all homeowners is nearly impossible.

Prior to the June, 2021 collapse of the Surfside Condominium in Florida many boards elected to keep HOA fees low and delay the "undesirable" projects. Structural, Plumbing and Foundational projects that were costly, yet did not increase the value of the building were prioritized below the projects that improved the livability and desirability of the building. Pools, Fitness and Social Rooms and Updated Interior Decorating were seen to improve the resale value of the condo units.

Property Management Companies and contractors are balancing the desires of board members and allocating the resources needed to proactively maintain existing systems. Staff are pulled in many directions, often times, unable to complete the tasks they plan to complete that day. There are also not enough hours in the day for managers to follow up with the staff and contractors to ensure maintenance plans are implemented, health and safety code requirements are being followed and decisions are being made based on the best return on investment and maximizing/extending the life of our systems.

I have always had a creative eye for cost effective solutions and am fortunate to have a contact list full of talented professionals I am able to leverage as needed to assist in supporting homeowners, homeowner association boards and property managers.

With these diverse experiences I am starting Dot2Dot to be able to leverage my experiences to hopefully assist you in learning from the challenges I faced.
